2000-Level Elective Questions

Am I required to take a 2000-level economics elective?

No, this is fully optional.

If I took Econ 2040 prior to Fall 2025, can I still count it as one course toward my Economics Major?

Yes, that is just fine.

The three 2000-level courses listed above are all cross-listed with other departments; if I want to count one of these courses towards my Economics Major, am I required to enroll in the “Econ” number?

No. However, doing so will make the recordkeeping a little easier since your Economics advisor will more easily recognize it as an “Econ” course.

Do any of these 2000-level economics electives have forbidden overlaps with other courses?

Yes, please be careful! Econ 2475 has a forbidden overlap with Econ 3475, as the two courses cover similar material (although at different levels). In addition, Econ 2801 has a forbidden overlap with Econ 3801, as again the two courses cover similar material (although at different levels).

There are other 2000-level economics courses on the course roster; can I instead count one of those towards my Economics Major?

No, you are restricted to the three 2000-level courses specified above.
