The College of Arts & Sciences has made it a priority to recognize faculty for their accomplishments, both in research and in the classroom, through endowed named professorships. The College is able to bestow these honors to outstanding faculty thanks to generous gifts from alumni, parents and friends.
“In the past two years, 30 of our faculty members have been appointed to these prized positions, which help the College with its efforts to recruit and retain the best and most impactful professors at Cornell,” said Ray Jayawardhana, Harold Tanner Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences. “It’s a pleasure to honor this group of well-deserving colleagues.”
Many of these professorships have been made possible through the Winokur Future Faculty Initiative, launched in 2017, which has enabled the college to replace retiring faculty, retain stellar junior faculty and recruit mid-career and senior faculty to provide leadership in areas of strategic importance.
