For weeks, "Bild" Christian Drosten, the head of virology at the Charité in Berlin, has been hard at work. On Monday, the allegations culminated in the headline on Bild.de: "Questionable methods: Drosten study on infectious children grossly wrong - How long has the star virologist known about it?" Drosten himself announced the report on Twitter shortly before, saying that "Bild" was planning "trend-setting reporting" about him with "scraps of quotations from unrelated scientists". To this end, he posted a request from an "image" editor who had asked Drosten to comment on the criticism within an hour.
Specifically, it is a study from the end of April in which Drosten came to the conclusion that children could be as infectious as adults. Here, one of the alleged key witnesses to the "Bild" article, the German economist Jörg Stoye, who teaches statistics at Cornell University in Ithaca, USA, comments on the allegations.
